It is the key event in the European mortgage industry: About 180 representatives from politics, international mortgage associations as well as the banking and finance sector met at EMF Annual Conference, Brussels. For the first time Hypotheken Management GmbH, Mannheim/Germany was the event’s main sponsor.
Opening the conference was former Danish Prime Minister, Mr Poul Nyrup Rasmussen. Within the panel discussions speakers and participants exchanged their experiences and ideas. The programme started with a broad market overview and continued with a step-by-step analysis of both the retail and funding sides of the financial industry.
Especially the second panel regarding the relationship between banks and customers has been discussed controversially. Lively debates unfolded, taking into account the changes of the new Consumer Credit Directive and its implementation efforts.
Finally, the panels were concluded by a look ahead to how policy responses to the crisis. Malcolm Harbour, member of the European Parliament, pointed out that the transposition of the Consumer Credit Directive (CCD) should have priority before the European Commission considers introducing any new legislation in this field.
Hagen Luckert, managing director of Hypotheken Management, illustrated the company’s business model on this occasion with a short speech. He outlined how especially foreign companies can benefit from Germany’s first credit service provider.
The day was closed with a speech by Ms Lesley Titcomb of the FSA. |
